Les Mills Combat Final Results!! :-) pics to follow!

Several people have asked me how long it takes to actually see results when you start a new workout program. That of course depends on what you out into it and if you’re willing to change your diet, but for Combat i began to see results right away! I saw huge changes after only 4 weeks even though I was following my own meal plans. If you saw my week 4 results post, you know I was down almost 10lbs and had shed 13 inches. Good news, right? Even better, I was feeling more energetic than ever and was able to give 110% in my workouts. Awesome! :-)
My results slowed a little after the 6 week mark but I enjoyed the workouts and still felt amazing. After 9 weeks, I am down 13lbs and 18 inches!!! Here’s the breakout:
Chest: -2 (can’t always choose where we lose from haha!)
R. Arm: -1.5
L. Arm: -1.5
Waist: -2
Hips: -4!!!
R. Thigh: -3.5
L. Thigh: -3
In addition to losing inches, I’ve noticed my shoulders, arms and abs are tighter and more toned. This program definitely challenged me and helped take me to the next level in my fitness. If you’re looking for a fun program to get you back into shape or even if you’re a beginner, I highly recommend Combat. The modifications give you options for lighter impact moves that will still push you and give you the results you want. The martial arts moves make the workouts more fun and rewarding when you see improvements.

Les Mills Combat Challenge -Week 4 Results!!

Ahhhh Week 4 done!!! You know what that means….time for measurements! But first, let me tell you how my workouts are going and how I’m feeling. This week, I started to feel more sore and tight. This is the first time I’ve considered getting a massage because the baths and heating pads just aren’t cutting it. This week, ill try to do the Inner Warrior Stretch DvD more often to try to relax my muscles. If that doesn’t work, I’ll be heading down the street to Ah Massage! :)
Other than that, I’m feeling great! I didn’t eat as well as I should have but am trying to eat as clean as possible. I think everyone needs a cheat day every once in awhile! If you don’t ever indulge, your diet probably won’t last long. The past month, I’ve definitely seen how important clean eating really is…you can workout all day everyday, but if you aren’t eating right, you aren’t going to see results! The right fuel has kept me strong in my workouts even on limited calories.
Ok enough of that…time for results!! 4 weeks in and I’m down 13 inches and 10lbs!! Here’s the breakout:
Chest: -.5
R. Arm: -1
L. Arm: -1
Waist: -1.5
Hips: -2.5
R. Thigh: -3.5
L. Thigh: -3
I’m definitely happy with my results and am hoping my progress won’t slow down too much in the last 5 weeks. I’m even being brave and sharing a pic of my almost abs! Les Mills Combat Challenge- Week 3

Wow, I can’t believe I’m already 3 weeks in on this challenge already! Honestly, it seems like I just started and I only have 6 weeks left. Next weekend I’ll be doing measurements and asking my sweet husband to take pictures to see my progress. He’s so patient with me! :)

This week I noticed a big change in my workouts. I was able to keep up with the trainers for the most part and increased my weight for the strength workouts. This week, I also started a stricter mealplan so I assumed my workouts would suffer, but instead my very boring menu seemed to give me more stable energy to get me through the longer DvDs. I HATE Burpees but actually survived the Burpee drop squat track in power HIIT. In week 2 I had to stop quite often, but this week I didn’t stop once. You know what that means! Next week ill try for the most advanced version which is a Burpee, 2 drop squats and a jump X 16. Woot!
I’ve also started noticing changes in my body, mostly abs, shoulders, arms and thighs. My shoulders are getting a little more shape and my stomach is slowly getting the outline of a 4 pack. It’s in there somewhere! ;) I’m hoping next week’s pics will show noticeable change from week 1.
Ok so week 3 done and how am I doing? Week 1 I lost 3lbs, Week 2 I lost 2 more….Week 3 I’m down 4lbs more! Believe me, I am ecstatic about these results! I don’t have a ton more weight to lose (but still plenty), so Im very happy with these large drops each week. When I started, I expected 1 maybe 2 pounds every week or two since my weight loss had hit a serious plateau after my honeymoon. But almost 10lbs down just 3 weeks in? Ill take it! Only 20 more to go.. :-/
Keep in mind, I’ve also been pretty strict with what I eat, and haven’t been eating anything past 730pm. I also do 20-30 minutes of cardio at lunch 3 days a week and meet with my trainer 3 days a week. Still, the biggest change in my routine in the past few weeks is combat so I think the program is working out great for me! Ill share measurements next weekend and possibly a pic….maybe…. ;)

Combat Week 2 DONE

Les Mills Combat Ultimate Schedule Week 2:

Week 2 is done and I’m still loving Les Mills Combat! In the first week, I lost 3lbs and at the end of week 2 I’m down 2 more. I also decided to check my measurements out of curiosity and am down 2 inches in my hips and almost 2 inches in each thigh. Woohoo!

I’m not just loving Combat for the weight loss, the workouts are fun and challenging. I like that the trainers offer modifications for a more challenging workout. I just finished the Upper Body Blow Out which is one of the 4 extra DVDs that come in the Ultimate package. I definitely recommend anyone interested in completing the Combat challenge buy these extra 4 DVDs! I love working upper body but this workout had my arms shaking halfway through. It starts with push-ups and plenty of shoulder presses and ends with weighted upper cuts (ouch!) and mountain climbers. Definitely brings the burn! :-P
The HIIT Power workout is still the toughest for me. The drop squats and jumping alternate lunges kill me every time and the track with a million Burpees is the best (worst)! My goal for week 3 is to be able to complete the track without taking any breaks. The finale of this section is 16 Burpees with drop squats and push-ups with each rep. Crazy Dan also adds a jump before the Burpee, so maybe that will be a goal for week 4. :-)
I can’t believe I’m already 2 weeks into this challenge and can’t wait to see how my body changes in the next 7 weeks!

Les Mills Combat Week 1!!

This past Monday I started the newest 60 day workout program from Beachbody. I figured why not share my progress for those who may be interested in trying the program out for themselves. I’ll post an update at least once a week to share results and any issues i find with the workouts and mealplans.

Les Mills Combat is a Mixed Martial Arts-inspired program pulling from 6 major disciplines: Boxing, Muy Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Karate/Kung Fu, Capoeria, and Jiu Jitsu. There are 3 different options when buying Combat…the basic which consists of 7 workouts with 2 rest days a week,the supreme which is the same 7 workouts but with only 1 rest day a week, and the ultimate warrior hybrid which is 11 workouts and 1 rest day a week. The program also comes with an eating guide to help you get the best results.
I purchased the ultimate program of course! The 4 extra DVDs are core attack, inner warrior (stretch), and warrior upper and lower body workouts. After completing the basics DvD I was worried the workouts might be a little too easy for me, but boy was I wrong! The workouts range from 30-60 minutes but are pretty intense, especially if you try to keep up with trainer Dan Cohen who does the expert level of each move. He’s crazy! Let’s just say if you’re more of a beginner Nuria is definitely the one to follow! ;-)
So far the Shock Power HIIT 1 has been the toughest for me. With a mix of Burpees, Drop Squats, and Jump Lunges I was out of breath the entire time. Luckily, it’s only 30 minutes so I was able to push through but my legs and shoulders were burning by the end. One round (which i was sure was going to kill me) has a Burpee with a push-up at the bottom, then jump up and right into a drop squat and repeat. If you’re looking for a short but intense full-body workout, Plyo is a great choice.
I think my favorite workout is actually Core Attack so far… It’s only 20 minutes but it’s done with one of the other workouts. I LOVE working my core and have seen a lot of change in that area which is probably why I enjoyed this one, but there were several new moves for me that brought the burn! The workout targets the entire core including back, which a lot of core workouts somehow seem to forget.
Watching Rachel Newsham is also a huge motivator for me..she’s a Program Director and creator of Les Mills Combat (along with Dan). She’s in amazing shape and even though her long graceful roundhouse kicks make me feel like my legs are 100lb tree trunks, she reminds me why I bought the program in the first place. To challenge myself with a crazy workout and to be more fit in 60 days!
So it’s been 6 days and I’m down 3lbs which is huge for me since I haven’t seen a loss of more than a pound in months. It’s only been a week but so far I’m happy with the program and think its something I can maintain for the 60 days and believe I will see great results. Let’s see if i feel this positive after week 2!! I’m also tracking measurements and taking before and after pics that ill share at the end of the challenge so stay tuned! :-)
